Veneers are a thin layer of porcelain or composite, designed to act as a shell that fits over the surface of your tooth.
You might choose to have veneers for a variety of reasons. Veneers can be used to transform the shape, colour and position of your natural teeth, giving you a complete smile makeover.
Veneers can be made from either porcelain or composite. Composite veneers are hand made by our cosmetic dentists in the surgery and can be placed in one visit, while porcelain veneers are hand-crafted by talented dental technicians in a dental laboratory. Composite veneers are more affordable than porcelain veneers but require more maintenance and usually need to be replaced after 5-7 years. Porcelain veneers last between 10-20 years if well maintained. They are more durable and require less maintenance than composite veneers.
We use digital smile design to contour your new veneers to perfectly fit your face and smile using a series of photographs, videos and a digital dental scan.
Our Smile Design Team will then use these images and a scan to create your bespoke, custom veneers. We know how important your new smile will be, so we always offer our patients a ‘Trial Smile’ showing them the result new veneers will achieve. This gives our patients an opportunity to ensure they are 100% happy with their future smile before committing to treatment.
Composite Veneers are placed using a copy technique to transform your smile in one appointment, with no injections or drilling of your natural tooth required.
Porcelain Veneers usually require some small adjustments to your natural tooth before we take a new scan and send this to our master ceramist to hand-design your bespoke new smile. This takes place over two appointments, with the final smile being fitted 2-4 weeks later.
