We offer single tooth dental implants as part of our dental restoration treatment range at The Dental Centre Belfast.
What is it like getting a single tooth dental implant?
Every patient’s treatment plan will look different when it comes to getting a single tooth dental implant. We will talk you through the treatment and make sure that you’re happy and comfortable at every stage of the treatment plan.
How long is the process of getting a single tooth dental implant?
In simple cases, a single tooth dental implant can be done in 3-4 appointments over a 3-5-month period. If an extraction is necessary before the implant is placed in the mouth, then you may have to have a 2-4-month healing period in between extraction and implantation.
What happens when getting a single tooth dental implant?
We always ensure our patients are extremely comfortable before placing dental implants and we carefully numb the area required.
Our experienced implant surgeon will then place the implant into the desired position and protect it with a healing cap.
There will then be a wait between appointments while we wait for your implant to properly integrate and heal. The integration and healing period can take time and you will be fitted with a temporary bridge or denture to fill the space.
How long will I have to wait between appointments?
2-3 months after having the implant placed, you will return to have your custom-made crown fitted onto your new implant.
We’ll then discuss the after-care option with you, which will include follow-up appointments to ensure the bone, gum and implant are all healing nicely.
We suggest regular visits to one of our dental hygienists to ensure both your natural teeth and new implant remain healthy long-term.
